Tampa, FL – August 10, 2021 – Syft®, has announced today that the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has issued the company U.S. Patent No. 11,049,610, relating to decedent and appendage tracking systems, and specifically for a configurable system designed to track location and status of an individual following death.
Syft’s decedent management and tracking solution helps hospitals optimize and automate workflows to ensure the safe, seamless, and compassionate handling of deceased patients. The solution also helps ensure hospitals comply with a complex set of requirements related to the handling of deceased patients, including at the city, state, and federal level.

In fact, Syft’s solution arose as a result of a partnership with Barnes-Jewish Hospital, an existing client and member of BJC HealthCare, one of the largest hospitals in Missouri. The hospital approached Syft about creating a healthcare-specific decedent management solution, as part of its commitment to providing high-quality care throughout the full continuum of care. The solution, now successfully implemented and adopted by staff at BJH, will be deployed across all thirteen BJC hospitals.
